Questo metodo di compostaggio \u00e8 stato sviluppato dal microbiologo molecolare David C. Johnson e da sua moglie Hui-Chun-Su. Loro cercavano un sistema di compostaggio povero di sali, con un alto rapporto tra funghi e batteri, di bassa manutenzione ed in grado di favorire la crescita delle colture. Cos\u00ec \u00e8 nato il Bioreattore Johnson-Su.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Alcuni dei principali vantaggi del Bioreattore sono <strong>facilit\u00e0 di reperire i materiali<\/strong>, \u00e8 <strong>economico<\/strong> e <strong>non richiede manutenzione<\/strong> una volta costruito e riempito. Infatti, non disturbiamo il processo di compostaggio, permettendo ai funghi di diffondersi e colonizzare il cumulo. Questi tubi forniscono ossigeno al Bioreattore all'inizio del processo.<\/span><\/h6>\n<h6>\u00a0<\/h6>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #fff;\">Dopo il primo giorno, le ife fungine (la struttura filamentosa di un fungo) sono gi\u00e0 ben stabilite nel cumulo, ed \u00e8 quindi possibile rimuovere i tubi. I sei fori rimarranno aperti e permetteranno all'aria di fluire dal basso verso l'alto, sotto il pallet, che \u00e8 leggermente sollevato, mantenendo cos\u00ec un ambiente nutrienti<\/strong> (grazie a potenti enzimi), stabiliscono <strong>sinergie<\/strong> tra funghi e piante (scambio di zuccheri prodotti attraverso la fotosintesi della pianta, chiamati essudati, e acqua e nutrienti forniti dai funghi) e, non da ultimo, <strong>fissano il carbonio al suolo<\/strong> attraverso la formazione di complesse molecole di catene umiche nel suolo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>La maggior parte dei nostri suoli \u00e8 <strong>dominata dai batteri<\/strong> , con una presenza quasi nulla di funghi, il che significa che il rapporto funghi-batteri \u00e8 molto basso. Ci\u00f2 implica che, in alcuni casi, oltre il <strong>95% del carbonio<\/strong> (zuccheri) catturato dalla pianta tramite il processo di fotosintesi viene destinato al suolo per nutrire le comunit\u00e0 microbiche.
